Super Mario 3 becomes one of the most expensive games to be sold on bidding

If you are a gamer and love video games, then you know about one of the most popular games in the world, Super Mario. The games bring back the nostalgia of childhood where everyone has spent hundreds of hours playing the game and listening to that great soundtrack and sound effect. Everyone knows that the game is one of the most valuable and popular among gamers, but do you know that the game is now also one of the most expensive ever.

Recently, one of the most pristine Super Mario Bros 3 copies, which was completely sealed, was sold in an auction for $156,000, making it one of the most expensive titles ever sold. The sealed variant of the NES game was sold by Texas-based auctioneer Heritage Auctions last Friday, beating the previous title-holder Super Mario Bros, which was sold at $114,000 in July. The game was not only pristine in condition but also very rare when compared to the normal packaging of fame.

As per the Heritage Auctions, “Exceedingly rare are sealed copies with the word ‘Bros.’ formatted to the left, covering one of Mario’s signature white gloves. Collectors have spent years looking for such a version – the earliest in the Super Mario Bros. 3 production history – and usually come up empty-handed.” The bidding for the game started at $62,500 and had almost 20 bidders pushing the price to get their hands on the copy. The same auction also saw the selling of Pokemon Red game sold for $84,000.
