Samsung to stop manufacturing of Galaxy S20 FE with Exynos 990 SoC chipset

Samsung launched the Galaxy S20 FE smartphone last year which was supposed to be the light version of their flagship series and a lot more affordable. The smartphone received a great response from Samsung fans and soon the company decided that they will be launching a FE series smartphone every year. The phone was launched in both 4G and 5G variants in the market where the 4G model had an Exynos 990 SoC and the 5G enabled handset had a Snapdragon 865 SoC.

Now, Samsung has confirmed that it will no longer be manufacturing the 4G variant with Exynos 990 SoC. This variant of the phone also had complaints related to poor performance and battery life. Therefore, Samsung decided to only continue with the 5G enabled handset in this series and it seems to be the right decision. The sources claim that Samsung might be working on a new 4G variant with Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 instead of Exynos 990. Another claim from leakster Ice Universe claims that the variant will be replaced by a Snapdragon 865+ model.

This means the upcoming new Galaxy S20 FE (SM-G780G) could be powered by Snapdragon 865+ SoC and not Snapdragon 865. This variant has already been listed on multiple regional websites by Samsung and could be launched very soon. Apart from this, the company has not made any kind of official announcements about it. However, we can expect some details to be revealed very soon.
