Youtube is one of the biggest platforms for content creators and the last few years have been great for new creators as well. However, a recent trend in Youtube videos has shown that some videos get more dislikes than likes which is not a great sign for any creator on this platform. Also, many groups have started using the dislike option to make a message across the platform, since not all dislikes are meant for genuine reaction to the content.
Due to this, Youtube has been experimenting with a new feature that will stop showing dislikes on the videos and the same can only be viewed in the Youtube Studio. It will make sure that the dislikes are not available to view publicly, but the dislike button will be available and the reaction from the users will be recorded. It will help to prevent targeted attacks by online trolls. As per the official statement from Youtube, “Creators, you’ll still be able to see the exact number of likes and dislikes in YouTube Studio.
For viewers, if you’re in the experiment, you can still like or dislike a video to share feedback with creators and help tune the recommendations you see on Youtube. Although, people have been arguing on Twitter about the feature, claiming that it will not show the genuine feedback of the viewers. Another feature that Youtube is working on is where it will provide links to the product which you are watching online on the platform. The links will redirect to the e-commerce site as well.
