CD Projekt Red had to face a lot of criticism due to the bad performance of the game Cyberpunk 2077 on the last generation gaming consoles of Xbox and Playstation. In fact, it leads to the loss of players and drops in the value of stocks as well. Soon after the issue was reported, the developer studio did accept that the game was created for the next generation of consoles and not optimized for PS4 or Xbox One X.
Now the Co-Founder of CD Projekt Red, Marcin Iwiński has released a new video where he is apologizing for the state of CyberPunk 2077, along with the confirmation that the game will be updated throughout the year to make sure that the gameplay experience can be improved and all the known bugs could be resolved. As per his statement in the video, The console version of Cyberpunk 2077 did not meet the quality standard we wanted it to meet,” Iwiński said. “I and the entire leadership team are deeply sorry for this, and this video is me publicly owning up to that. Please don’t fault any of our teams for what happened.”
He also accepted that the team was too ambitious for the PC version of the game which also served as the foundation for the console version and proved to be too taxing for eighth-generation hardware. Developers not only missed a ton of glitches in the game but also the in-game streaming issues left a very bad gaming experience. The co-founder has also laid out a written version of the video statement in the FAQs and confirmed that the game’s free next-gen console upgrade will land in the second half of 2021
