Google’s DMCA Response: The Uncertain Fate of the Downloader App

Becoming an Android developer on the Play Store presents numerous challenges. It’s not just about building a reputation and attracting app downloads; you must also navigate the unpredictable and sometimes devastating impact of Play Store policy enforcement. Unfortunately, many developers who genuinely strive to adhere to the rules have experienced the sudden removal of their apps from the platform. The latest victim of what appears to be an unfair removal is an app accused of supporting piracy solely due to the inclusion of a web browser.

Downloader, a popular Android TV app, addresses a significant issue power users face: the seamless transfer of files to these devices, particularly for sideloading apps. Among its features, the app includes a web browser optimized for remote usage, enabling users to retrieve files from websites conveniently. Essentially, Downloader does what its name suggests.

The predicament originates from a law firm representing multiple Israeli TV companies, which filed a Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) complaint with Google, as reported by Ars Technica. The firm asserts that the app can access a piracy website, alleging numerous people exploit it to obtain content without payment. However, the app’s developer, Elias Saba, vehemently denies affiliation with the piracy website. He asserts that his app solely directs users to the homepage of his website, AFTVnews, without leading them elsewhere.

Saba filed an appeal soon after receiving the DMCA complaint through the Play Console. However, Google swiftly rejected his request within an hour. Undeterred, he submitted a second appeal using Google’s DMCA counter-notification form. He awaits a response, with the latest update on his request occurring earlier today. Regrettably, Saba lacks visibility into the specific changes made, but it indicates that progress has been made since he initially submitted the form last Friday.

In a series of tweets, Saba highlights the inconsistency of taking down a browser merely because it can load a pirated website. He argues that if this were the case, all browsers within the Google Play Store should face removal. He expresses disappointment in Google’s passive approach, hoping they would implement measures to filter out baseless DMCA notices like the one he received.

Google has yet to reinstate the app, leaving the outcome uncertain for Saba’s arguments. While it is reasonable to envision the app’s return, given its similarity to other browsers available on the Play Store, nothing guarantees its reinstatement. Google has previously reinstated apps following DMCA claims, but even with a valid counter-notice, the resolution process can still extend for months before rectification is achieved.

Google’s Recorder App: Bridging the Gap for Larger Screens

Each mobile phone manufacturer typically provides its own recording application, but Google Recorder stands out from the competition due to its exceptionally valuable transcription features. While the app was already helpful on its own, Google took it a step further last year by introducing the ability to identify individual speakers during recordings. With the imminent release of the Pixel Fold and Pixel Tablet, Google is preparing the Recorder app to function seamlessly on larger screens.

According to a report from 9to5Google, the latest update of Google Recorder features an enhanced user interface specifically tailored for these new devices. The app’s layout now divides the screen into two halves: one side displays the waveform recording, while the other showcases the transcription. Moreover, when utilizing the transcription service, the playback controls are located in the bottom-right corner instead of occupying the entire right-hand side.

Although the update is already being rolled out, most users will only notice significant changes once they acquire the new set of Pixel devices. Those who are already familiar with the Recorder web app will find this update quite similar in appearance. Additionally, users may have observed that the web app allowed for adjusting playback speeds, and they will be delighted to discover that this feature is now available on the mobile app as well.

Historically, Google has not devoted much attention to optimizing its applications for large-screen devices. However, with the imminent release of the Pixel Fold and Pixel Tablet, it seems that this trend is about to change. If you currently own an Android tablet and wish to utilize apps specifically designed for such devices, it would be worthwhile to explore the existing selection of tablet-optimized apps. While it may take some time before most Google apps become fully optimized for tablets, the recent update to Google Recorder represents a promising step in the right direction.

Unskippable Ads on YouTube: The Impact on Viewers and Advertisers

The entertainment scene is changing dramatically as streaming alternatives gradually replace traditional cable television. YouTube is leading the effort, using a freemium model that allows viewers to either purchase YouTube Premium or suffer advertising that funds the platform and its creators. However, a fraction of YouTube viewers, particularly those watching on connected TVs, may now be subjected to lengthy and unskippable 30-second ads.

YouTube revealed its extraordinary reach of 150 million people on connected TVs in the United States alone during the recent Brandcast 2023 event when potential advertisers gathered. Increased video consumption on YouTube means a broader audience to market to and more options for ad placement for advertisers. As a result, the business announced a move to replace two 15-second unskippable adverts on linked TVs with a single 30-second unskippable spot. As one of the most popular entertainment apps, YouTube has made it apparent that it plans to utilize larger displays in people’s homes, giving advertisers more time to fascinate viewers and weave interesting tales around their products or services.

According to YouTube, the format change will not affect the watching experience. However, after testing our patience with unskippable advertising in September of the previous year, it’s clear that the firm recognized the business potential of this move. While it would be ideal if all advertisements were placed before uninterrupted content, the only way to avoid them is to subscribe to YouTube Premium.

Although these adjustments will initially be limited to linked TVs, YouTube’s language leaves room for future possibilities. Given that viewers frequently consume long-form material on larger displays, there is no reason why YouTube would not consider deploying 30-second unskippable advertising on mobile devices. We are hesitant to provide suggestions, but the potential is certainly there.

Advertisers may get these new 30-second spots via YouTube Select, which allows them to target specific demographics and select preferred YouTube creators to display their ads. Additionally, Google provided other prominent viewership figures during the Brandcast event, emphasizing advertisers and highlighting chances for organizations to showcase their brands even when users halt the content they are watching.

Android 14’s Potential Game-Changer: App Pairs and Seamless Multitasking

Android has long allowed users to multitask by utilizing split-view features. With the development of smartphones with enormous displays, split-view has proven to be a crucial technique for maximizing screen real estate. Tablets and foldable devices, in particular, benefit immensely from this functionality, as their larger displays are ideal for running two apps simultaneously. While Google’s attempt to introduce App Pairs in Android 12 did not succeed, there are signs that this may change with the introduction of Android 14 later this year.

Mishaal Rahman, a well-known Android specialist, recently tweeted about a new launcher flag in Android 14 beta 2. When enabled, this flag may allow the “save app pair” option, which is conveniently buried within the contextual split-screen menu in the Recent Apps view. Toggling the hidden flag currently produces no tangible results, implying that the feature is still in development and unsuitable for testing. Once fully functioning, the “save app pair” option will most likely allow users to build home screen shortcuts that directly start two apps in split-screen mode.

Aside from smartphones, the app pairing functionality has excellent promise for devices such as the Pixel Fold and Tablet. Because of their large screen sizes, these devices are perfect for multitasking with many apps simultaneously.

It’s worth mentioning that Samsung already has a similar App Pair feature on its top Galaxy S and Tab smartphones, while Microsoft has a similar capability on its Surface Duo lineup. As a result, Google’s inclusion of App Pair in Android 14 would essentially bring it up to speed with a feature that Samsung has had on its phones for several years.

WhatsApp Strengthens Security with New Chat Lock Feature

WhatsApp has made enormous efforts in recent years to improve the safety and security of its network. As one of the most popular Android messaging apps, with over a billion daily users and billions of messages received, it was critical for WhatsApp to make much-needed upgrades. Now, Meta’s messaging service is taking another step towards making chat safer and more secure by adding Chat Lock. Chat Lock, unlike the existing ability to lock WhatsApp using your phone’s password, PIN, or biometric verification, allows you to individually lock conversations, whether they are private with a loved one or group chats with friends.

When you lock a chat, it disappears from your primary WhatsApp inbox. Instead, it will be relocated to a different folder that will be protected by your phone’s PIN, password, or biometric authentication. Simply pull down gently while in WhatsApp’s primary inbox view to access the restricted chat folder. The Chat Lock option is available in the chat details section of each session. Furthermore, alerts from locked chats will not reveal the message content for further privacy. When you tap on a locked conversation, you will be prompted to use biometric authentication to authenticate your identity before you can access the message.

Meta has also stated that it intends to strengthen the Chat Lock feature in the future months. This includes the ability to lock chats on companion devices and the ability to generate custom chat passwords. You will be able to configure a separate lock for your private WhatsApp conversations, separate from your device unlock password or PIN, with personalized passwords. The Chat Lock feature is now available in the latest version of WhatsApp for both Android and iPhone users. If you’ve already upgraded to the most recent version, check the Chat details area to see if the option is accessible for your account.

Consider studying the main privacy features provided by WhatsApp that you should use to improve security.

Summary:

  • WhatsApp introduces the Chat Lock feature to improve security.
  • Individual discussions can be locked with Chat Lock.
  • Locked chats are relocated to their own folder and require a PIN, password, or biometric identification to access.
  • Message content is not displayed in notifications from locked chats.
  • In the future, you’ll be able to lock chats on companion devices and create bespoke passwords.
  • Chat Lock is now available in the most recent version of WhatsApp for Android and iPhone.
  • Check the Chat information area to verify if the function has been activated for your account.
  • For increased security, investigate WhatsApp’s additional privacy features.

Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5: What to Expect from the Upcoming Unveiling

Following the successful debut of the Galaxy S23 earlier this year, Samsung is preparing for its second major event of 2023. The Galaxy Z foldable series will be the focus this time, with the highly anticipated Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 slated to make their debut. Excitingly, a recent leak disclosed the rumored release date, implying an earlier release than usual.

According to a South Korean news outlet, Samsung’s second Galaxy Unpacked event of 2023 is scheduled for July 26, almost two weeks earlier than the company’s usual plan. The veracity of this leak is further enhanced by the confirmation of the date by noted leaker Max Jambor. If the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 are revealed in late July, they are projected to hit store shelves on August 11.

According to speculation, Samsung’s purpose for releasing the foldable series sooner than usual is to use up unsold semiconductor stock and reach revenue projections for Q3 2023. This strategic decision could assist the corporation in maximizing its resources while introducing new products to the market. Furthermore, unlike past events held in the United States or Europe, the forthcoming Galaxy Unpacked event will be placed in South Korea. This shift in location, however, is unlikely to affect the two phones’ international availability.

Several leaks and rumors have appeared, revealing details about the design and features of the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5. Notably, the bigger Galaxy Z Fold 5 will have a better hinge design akin to the Pixel Fold mechanism. This breakthrough enables the phone to fold seamlessly, with no visible gap between its parts. Furthermore, the smartphone is predicted to be lighter and slimmer than its predecessor while maintaining the same battery life.

The smaller Galaxy Z Flip 5 is rumored to include a larger cover display, providing customers with greater functionality without the need to unfold the phone. It may also include an Always-on Display (AOD) function, similar to the one featured in the iPhone 14 Pro. Both foldable are expected to include the updated Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, putting them on par with other leading Android smartphones.

Along with the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5, Samsung may use this event to unveil the Galaxy Watch 6 series, which is believed to include a current chipset upgrade. Overall, Samsung and tech fans alike have a lot to look forward to with the upcoming Galaxy Unpacked presentation.

Summary:

  • The Galaxy Z foldable series will be the subject of Samsung’s second major event in 2023.
  • The Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 are scheduled to be introduced two weeks sooner than usual on July 26.
  • The smartphones are expected to hit stores on August 11.
  • Samsung intends to use unsold semiconductor stock to reach sales targets for the third quarter of 2023.
  • The event will take place in South Korea, but international access should be unaffected.
  • The Galaxy Z Fold 5 will have a new hinge design for a more smooth closure.
  • The Galaxy Z Flip 5 will have a larger cover display and may include AOD.
  • The improved Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor will power both devices.
  • The Galaxy Watch 6 series, which will feature a modern CPU upgrade, may also be unveiled.

Now, the company has begun to tease the release of its next-generation model, the Nothing Phone (2), and has even announced a launch date, revealing exciting details for tech enthusiasts.

According to a recent company release, the Phone (2) will be available this summer. Although no specific date has been given, it has been confirmed that the smartphone will be available for purchase in the United States. Furthermore, an animated video shared by the company appears to imply that the upcoming smartphone, like its predecessor, will have lights on the back.

Motorola Razr 40 Ultra: Features, Specs, and Launch Details

Motorola’s 2021 has been exciting, with the launch of Moto G 5G, Moto G Stylus, and Moto Edge Plus. Leaks surrounding its upcoming foldable – the Razr 40 series – have also been making the rounds. The latest leak pertains to the high-end Razr 40 Ultra and its specs.

XDA Developers has unearthed new information regarding the flagship Motorola Razr 40 Ultra. The phone is expected to be powered by a Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 processor with up to 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage.
The phone’s main display is anticipated to be an HDR AMOLED screen with a resolution of 2640 x 1080 and a refresh rate of 120Hz. Some earlier leaks indicated the refresh rate could be up to 144Hz. The cover screen is expected to have a resolution of 1056 x 1066.

The cover display of the Razr 40 Ultra may have more functionality than just displaying the time and notifications. Reportedly, the phone can launch apps on its cover display, but not all apps may be available by default. Some apps may not be optimized for the screen’s size, but users may have the option to force them to run. XDA Developers discovered a warning that makes this clear.

The Razr 40 Ultra may also feature features similar to Samsung’s flex mode, as it knows when it’s half open.
The foldable phone’s camera setup is expected to include two outer cameras and a selfie camera. The primary sensor is rumored to be a 12MP Sony IMX563, while the secondary sensor is a wide-angle 13MP SK Hynix Hi1336. The selfie camera may be a 32MP OmniVision OV32B40.

The phone will feature NFC support, a fingerprint sensor, and a variant model. The latter is rumored to have dual-SIM, eSIM, and possibly ultra-wideband permission. The phone could be available in “Barberry,” “Black,” and “Blue,” with Barberry being a maroon color similar to Motorola’s previous Viva Magenta colorway.

We can expect the Motorola Razr 40 Ultra and the base Razr 40 to launch in the US based on earlier leaks. Reports suggest that Motorola may launch the phones on June 1.

Addressing Privacy Concerns: Google and Apple’s Joint Efforts in Bluetooth Tracker Technology

Apple’s AirTag has upended the Bluetooth tracker market, surpassing Tile as the most desired device. AirTag has gained a household name due to its capacity to quickly identify personal belongings such as keys, wallets, and phones. On the other hand, Bluetooth trackers have generated worries about privacy and the potential for people to use them to track others without their knowledge.

To address these problems, Google and Apple have collaborated to establish a drafting specification to create uniform standards for Bluetooth tracker manufacturers. This announcement has received backing from companies such as Samsung, Tile, Chipolo, eufy Security, and Pebblebee.

The heart of this draught specification is developing an alert system that works on iOS and Android smartphones. The plan would alert users if a Bluetooth tracker were likely watching them, regardless of which company produced the tracker. Put another way, if an AirTag is following someone with an Android phone, their phone will notify them.

While Apple is the only company with a commercially available Bluetooth tracker, Google is said to be working on one. The Nest Locator Tag, codenamed “grogu” or “Baby Yoda,” could be deployed later this year.

Google and Apple are working with industry leaders and charitable organizations, including the National Network to End Domestic Violence, to create an inclusive draught specification that addresses the concerns of vulnerable groups, such as domestic violence victims at risk of being tracked by their abusers.

Google’s Budget Pixel 7a to Debut in India on May 11, 2023

As the Pixel 7a’s release date nears, anticipation grows. The camera optics are believed to be significantly improved for the affordable Pixel, causing quite a stir among smartphone fans. The phone’s specifications, retail packaging, and unique Coral color have all been unveiled, providing a thorough preview ahead of Google I/O 2023. Furthermore, Google has confirmed that the Pixel 7a will be available in India.

Google has shared teaser photographs on social media, revealing that the Pixel 7a will be available in India on May 11, 2023. The image is a blurry phone rendering, similar to prior leaked images. The Pixel 7a, like its predecessors, the Pixel 6a and Pixel 7 series, will be sold in India through Flipkart.

Google I/O 2023 is scheduled for May 10, with preorders likely to be available in the United States immediately following the keynote announcement. Due to the time difference, the India launch will occur the next day. Price leaks for the Pixel 7a point to a $499 price tag in the United States, but there have been no clear leaks for India.

The Pixel 6a was released in India for Rs. 43,999 ($538), and a price increase for this year’s Pixel is predicted. As a result, the cheap Pixel is estimated to cost around Rs. 49,999 ($611). Remember that the Pixel 6a received huge reductions some months after its initial release in India, making it more enticing. We expect the Pixel 7a to be priced competitively from the start in order to appeal to Indian customers.

Samsung Plans to Cut Memory Chip Production by Around 25% in 2023

Samsung Electronics, the leading South Korean technology conglomerate, has reported a massive decline in operating profit for Q1 2023 compared to last year. The primary reason for this significant slump is the reduced demand for memory chips. While Samsung has not revealed the exact level of production cutback, industry experts anticipate a 25% decrease.

According to Minbok Wi, a Semiconductor Analyst from Daishin Securities, Samsung may reduce memory chip production by 20% to 25% in H1 2023, compared to H1 2022. On the other hand, KB Securities predicts that Samsung will cut NAND flash chip production by 15% and DRAM chip production by over 20%, starting from Q3 2023. Analyst Min Seong Hwang from Samsung Securities warns that the company may need to curtail production further if inventory levels fail to decrease.

Samsung has assured that it has enough memory chip inventory to fulfill mid to long-term demand and intends to decrease the production of outdated products. While Samsung has not identified which memory chips will face reduced production, The Korea Herald states that Samsung plans to limit the output of low-cost DRAM modules such as DDR3 and DDR4 because of their decreasing demand. Instead, Samsung will focus on advanced memory chips such as DDR5, which is rapidly gaining popularity.

Recent market trends have been unfavorable for Samsung, with the average contract price of an 8GB DDR4 RAM module decreasing by 19.9% last month, following an 18.1% decline in January. Although prices stabilized in February and March, they are falling again, despite Samsung’s announcement of production cuts. TrendForce predicts a further 15% to 20% price drop during Q2 2023 as suppliers tackle high inventory levels.

While the immediate future for Samsung and the chip industry appears grim, some analysts remain positive, suggesting that there could be a reversal in 2024. As the market shifts and advanced memory chips like DDR5 gain momentum, Samsung’s focus on next-generation technologies could position it favorably for recovery in the coming years.

Samsung A Series vs M Series: Which to Choose?

Samsung is one of the most popular smartphone manufacturers and its model range is unusually wide. If most brands are limited to the release of only three to five smartphones, then Samsung pleases users with so many product lines. On the one hand, this creates a choice for users. On the other, the more choice options you have, the more confused you may feel.

Talking about Samsung smartphones, many first-time users find it hard to understand how smartphones of one line differ from another, especially if they look almost the same and the technical features are the same. So, if you also don’t know whether to choose A or M Series, below you will find useful information to help you make the right choice.

Samsung A Series vs M Series: Brief Overview

Let’s understand the problematic moments regarding this series of smartphones. As you know, troubleshooting a Samsung phone of both the A and M categories is pretty easy. These devices have long proven their reliability and quality, which is why this manufacturer is in demand all over the world. So let’s look at the highlights of the A and M series, focusing on their weak and strong features.

  • Samsung A-series Smartphones. This series offers affordable models that are designed to compete with Chinese manufacturers in the minimum and medium price ranges. This series is characterized by a large selection of models from the most budgetary to premium-quality smartphones.
  • Samsung M-series Smartphones. The M series has many similarities with the A series, especially when it comes to processors and screens. Hence, the prices are lower than the above product line.

So, what is better? Let’s check out the differences in more detail.

The Key Differences Among  A Series and M Series

So, Samsung A Series and M Series are two popular series of smartphones from Samsung. Below you will find the key differences between the two ranges.

Price category

First, it is important to understand that these models are in different price segments. The A series is usually more expensive than the M series. So if you are looking for a smartphone at a more budget price, then you should consider the offers in the M line.

Design

At first glance, the design of these series may seem standard and not be decisive when choosing one or another series. However, this is the key difference between these series. First, the A-series smartphones have a more premium design with glass backs. As for the M series, the design is made with plastic back panels.

Display

Since the A series is in the more expensive price segment, when it comes to the display, you can expect better display quality with Super AMOLED displays. The M series smartphones use TFT displays.

Camera

Another difference between these series is the camera. If we talk about the A series, then there will be a better quality camera with more megapixels. There will also be features such as optical image stabilization. As for the M-series smartphones, you can expect good camera quality, but compared to the A-series, they are not as high-end.

Performance

An important difference is the performance of smartphones of these two lines. The A series offers better performance with more powerful processors, while the M series features mid-range processors.

Battery Life

Considering that the Samsung A and M series are a little different, the main thing here is the capacity of the batteries. As a rule, M-models are equipped with fast charging with high power (from 18 W and above), and the battery capacity is 6000 mAh (sometimes 5000 mAh). The M Series offers users a workhorse when it comes to battery life and the capacity of their batteries is really impressive. A series has smaller batteries, so if you are looking for a workhorse, then you should pay attention to the M series.

A Series vs M Series: Which One to Choose?

Now you know the main differences between these two series. Which one to choose anyway? If your goal is to find a premium smartphone that has a modern and attractive design, as well as high-end features, then you can find all this in the A-series lineup.

If you have a limited budget but you are looking for a device that will delight you with all the modern features, attractive design, and high performance, then you should pay attention to smartphones from the M series. Devices of this lineup are in demand and also have positive consumer reviews.

Therefore, when choosing devices, you should rely on your preferences, needs, and budget. It makes no sense to talk about which of these lineups is better since they are in different segments. But when you know the main differences, you can make the right choice regarding which smartphones are right for you.

Check-list on How To Select The Smartphone

To determine which smartphone you need, you can use the following checklist:

  • Determine the main purpose of use:
    • work with the Internet: using e-mail, browsing sites, communicating on the network (quick communication programs, social networks)
    • voice connection
    • photo and video filming
    • viewing photos and movies, listening to music
    • reading books
    • games
  • Determine your budget. Sometimes this is the key point when it comes to a smartphone purchase.
  • Determine display size and its technology.
  • Determine the preferred battery life.

The answers to these points will help you get a clear idea of for what purposes you need a smartphone and it will be much easier for you to find exactly what will fully satisfy all your needs.

Wrapping Up

So, if you want to get premium quality, then you should pay attention to the A series. There are many smartphones that will allow you to get high functionality and modern design. If you are looking for something at an affordable price with high performance, then you should consider devices from the M series. Remember that it is worth starting with your needs and budget to make the right choice. Use the tips from this article to finally decide on the Samsung model that meets your expectations.

Reliance Jio has recently released its latest offering, a smartphone-based virtual reality headgear. The JioDrive VR headsets debuted a few years back. The JioDrive, according to the business, can enhance the viewing experience of the ongoing TATA IPL 2023 on the JioCinema app.

The TATA IPL is being streamed via the JioCinema app, allowing viewers to watch the game from several perspectives, including a bird’s eye view, a stump cam view, and a cable cam view. The OTT platform also supports a 4K watch. The JioDrive VR headset may provide consumers with a stadium-like experience in the comfort of their own homes, enhancing the viewing experience. Reliance claims that pairing the VR headgear with a suitable device allows viewers to experience the IPL on a 100-inch virtual screen.

The JioDrive VR headgear is meant to work with smartphones with screen sizes ranging from 4.7 to 6.7 inches. These smartphones must also feature a gyroscope and an accelerometer and be compatible with Android 9 and iOS 15 or higher software versions. Reliance JioImmerse app allows to immerse themselves in other VR experiences such as gaming, entertainment, and learning. Customers must have a 4G, 5G, or JioFiber connection to access it.

The JioDrive VR headset has a ventilated face cushion for comfortable and extended use. A three-way adjustable strap ensures a secure and comfortable fit. The device contains a click button on the bottom right side to navigate and engage in VR. Adjustment wheels are provided to fine-tune the lenses and alter the focus for a clearer image.

TicWatch Pro 5: An In-Depth Look at Mobvoi’s Flagship Wear OS Watch

The competition between the Pixel Watch and Samsung’s Galaxy Watch has dominated the Wear OS world recently, with many hoping for a greater range of players in the field. Fortunately, it seems that Mobvoi is about to shake things up with the upcoming release of the TicWatch Pro 5. Thanks to a leaked upload on a Canadian Amazon product page, we now know all of the exciting details.

The TicWatch Pro 5 will run on Wear OS 3 and feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon W5+ chip, along with a 611mAh battery. The watch will only have one crown, unlike its predecessor the TicWatch Pro 3, and will be slimmer overall. Other leaked specifications include a 1.43″ 400p panel with the hybrid OLED and ESTN display that is characteristic of the series. The backlight coloring will be user-customizable, and the watch will have Corning Gorilla Glass, Bluetooth 5.2, Wi-Fi 4, and global location tracking radios. Additionally, the TicWatch Pro 5 will include NFC with Google Wallet support, a compass, barometer, mic, and speaker, with a water immersion rating of 5ATM and MIL-STD-810H durability.

Inside the watch, the TicWatch Pro 5 will have 2GB of RAM and 32GB of local storage, which is double and quadruple the amount of storage on the TicWatch Pro 3, respectively. While the exact battery capacity is yet to be confirmed, we know that the watch will have an extended use mode that should last up to 80 hours, with the ability to charge from zero to 65% in just 30 minutes.

For biometrics and athletic performance tracking, the TicWatch Pro 5 will include round-the-clock heart rate monitoring, sleep tracking, and VO2 Max charting, as well as respiratory, SpO2, stress, and another statistic tracking. However, the one downside is that the TicWatch Pro 5 will be heavier than both the TicWatch Pro 3 and 3 Ultra, measuring 50.15 × 48 × 12.2mm.

Overall, the TicWatch Pro 5 looks like an exciting addition to the Wear OS market. Although Mobvoi has been teasing the release of the watch for a while, this leaked retail mistake suggests that it could be arriving on the market sooner than expected.
